Audio Data Collection and Processing
Screen Recording Permission
Commander Brief requests Screen Recording permission from macOS solely to access system audio output from other applications. We do not capture, record, or access any visual content, screenshots, or screen recordings.
Audio Data
We temporarily capture system audio for the sole purpose of creating meeting transcripts. This audio data is:
- • Processed locally on your device
- • Sent to OpenAI for transcription using your provided API key
- • Optionally saved as audio files in a local folder you designate
- • Never stored on our servers
- • Never shared with third parties except OpenAI for transcription
Data Retention
All audio recordings and transcripts remain on your local device. You have complete control over retention and deletion of this data.
Third-Party Services
- • Audio transcription is processed by OpenAI using your own API key
- • You control what data is sent to OpenAI through your usage
- • Refer to OpenAI's privacy policy for their data handling practices
User Responsibilities
Users are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations regarding audio recording, including but not limited to obtaining necessary consent from meeting participants. Laws vary by jurisdiction - some require consent from all parties, others only from one party. Commander Brief is a tool that enables recording; users must ensure their use complies with local laws.
